PREVIOUSLY RELEASED:

Lethbridge Police are investigating a pedestrian collision that resulted in life-threatening injuries to an unidentified female and are seeking the public’s assistance to identify her.

The collision occurred just before midnight on July 23. Investigation determined a female, who police have not been able to identify, was struck by a westbound vehicle while crossing 6 Avenue South in the 500 block. The vehicle, driven by a 44-year-old woman, attempted to brake, but struck the female before coming to a stop. EMS transported the victim, who sustained life-threatening injuries, to hospital. She was later airlifted to Calgary by STARS where she remains in stable, but critical condition.

The victim did not have any identification and all police efforts to identify her have been unsuccessful.

The victim is described as an Indigenous female, approximately 45-years-old. She is 5’4” tall and 158 lbs. She was wearing a criss-crossed diamond wedding band on her ring finger. The woman was able to nod when she was asked if she had a husband and children, but is unable to speak and could not provide any further information about her identity.

Anyone who recognizes the ring or has information that could help police identify the victim so her next of kin can be notified, is asked to call 403-328-4444 and reference file 24014368.
