Retrieval of stolen truck leads to seizure of over $40,000 worth of drugs
Lethbridge Police seized over $40,000 worth of drugs and charged a 43-year-old man with trafficking offences after he was found in possession of a stolen truck.
On June 6, 2024 at approximately 6:35 p.m., members of the Canine Unit were on patrol along the 500 block of 7 Street South. They identified a dark blue truck that had been reported as stolen on June 1 and took the male driver into custody. A search of the vehicle incidental to the arrest resulted in the seizure of 123.1 grams of fentanyl (1231 street doses), 27.7 grams of cocaine (27 street doses), 324.2 grams of methamphetamine (2872 street doses). The combined street value of the drugs is estimated to be over $40,000. In addition, police seized $1,720 in cash proceeds of crime, multiple knives, a baton and bear spray.
Greg Petryga, 43, of Lethbridge, is charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, one count of possession of stolen property over $5000, one count of possession of the proceeds of crime, and three counts of breach of undertaking. Petryga is currently being held for a Judicial Interim Release hearing.
