Proactive patrol results in female charged with drug trafficking offences

Lethbridge Police have charged a 29-year-old woman with drug trafficking offences after she was located in possession of methamphetamine and fentanyl by an officer conducting a proactive bike patrol downtown.

On April 3, a member of the Downtown Policing Unit was on bike patrol  near the Civic Centre field along the 500 block of 11 Street South when he observed a female known to have outstanding warrants. The woman was arrested on her warrants and during a subsequent search, police located quantities of methamphetamine, pre-packaged doses of fentanyl, loose chunks of fentanyl and drug paraphernalia including a scale with drug reside and pre-cut packaging, along with more over $300 cash proceeds of crime. In total, the drugs sized equate to 106 doses of methamphetamine and 44 doses of fentanyl.

Josee Gennifer Beatty, 29, of Lethbridge, is charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and one count of possession of the proceeds of crime. Following a Judicial Interim Release hearing, Beatty was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court April 11.
