Police investigating residential break-in, violent assault

Lethbridge Police are investigating after a 27-year-old woman was attacked and violently assaulted in her home by an unknown male.

On September 10, at approximately 3:30 a.m. police responded to a report that a male had broken into a home along the 200 block of Mayor Magrath Drive North and attacked a woman who was asleep inside the residence. The male assaulted the victim with a weapon, then fled through a window. The victim was transported by EMS to Chinook Regional Hospital and admitted with serious injuries.

Multiple police officers responded to the scene and a K9 track was conducted with negative results.

The subject is unknown to the victim and at this time the incident appears to be random in nature.

Police are asking any homeowners in the area with video surveillance cameras to check their footage between midnight and 4 a.m. for any activity. Additionally, anyone who may have been driving in the area is asked to check their dashcam footage. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 403-328-4444 and reference file 24017928.

The investigation is ongoing.

No further information or details will be released. An update will be provided when possible.
