Police investigating fatal motorcycle collision

Lethbridge Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle collision that claimed the life of a 40-year-old male.

On October 24 just after 7 p.m., police and EMS responded to a report of a serious collision involving a motorcycle and SUV along the 1200 block of 3 Avenue South. The male operator of the motorcycle was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Investigation by members of the Traffic Response Unit, determined the motorcycle was travelling westbound on 3 Avenue South when it struck an SUV attempting to turn eastbound onto 3 Avenue from 12 A Street South. The SUV then drove across both eastbound lanes, struck a parked truck and continued southbound onto 13 Street before pulling over in the 900 block. The 68-year-old female driver of the SUV was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is ongoing and police are asking anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the incident to come forward.

Anyone who was in the area of the 1200 block of 3 Avenue South on October 24, between 7 p.m. and 7:05 p.m., or may have dash cam footage or other video surveillance during that period, is asked to contact police. Call 403-328-4444 and reference file 24021276.
