Male in custody in connection with break-in, violent assault

Lethbridge Police have arrested a male and charges are pending in connection with an incident where a woman was attacked in her home.

On September 10, at approximately 3:30 a.m. police responded to a report that a male had broken into a home along the 200 block of Mayor Magrath Drive North and attacked a 27-year-old woman who was asleep inside the residence. The male assaulted the victim with a weapon, then fled through a window.

The victim was transported by EMS to Chinook Regional Hospital and admitted with serious injuries. Multiple officers responded to the scene and a K9 track was conducted with negative results. 

Following further investigation, a suspect was identified by members of the Violent Crimes Unit and the male was arrested without incident on September 11. The subject is unknown to the victim.

The male remains in custody and the investigation is ongoing.

No further information or interviews will be provided at this time. An update will follow once charges have been laid.
