Cougar sighted in Indian Battle Heights, not located

UPDATE:

Following an extensive search, the cougar was not located.

Police have advised the impacted schools accordingly. 

The cougar’s whereabouts are unknown and residents of the west side are asked to remain cautious about its possible presence in the area. If sighted, please call 403-328-4444.

PREVIOUSLY RELEASED

At approximately 11: 15 am, Lethbridge Police received a report of a cougar sighting in the Indian Battle Heights subdivision. 

Fish and Wildlife have been contacted and are working closely with police to find the cougar.

Schools in the area have been made aware and are directed to keep students inside. The public is also advised to stay away from the area.
