Community Peace Officer charged in off-duty incident

A Lethbridge Police Community Peace Officer has been charged in connection with an off-duty incident.

The CPO is charged with assault and assault causing bodily harm stemming from historic family violence-related matters that occurred between 2006 and 2014. The matter was first reported to police in October 2024 and an investigation was initiated at that time.

Given the nature of the incident, the name of the CPO will not be released to protect the identity and privacy of the victim. The employee has served as a CPO for just over one and a half years and is currently suspended with pay.

This information is being released in the interest of public transparency. 

It is LPS policy to withhold the name of the accused if disclosure could identify the victim of a family violence incident. This policy applies equally to any member of the public in order to protect the privacy of impacted victims. 

The charged CPO and his family have been offered appropriate supports from the Service during the court process.  

No further information in relation to this matter will be released.
