Deputy Chief of Police
Gerald Grobmeier is an accomplished police leader with over three decades of operational and administrative experience and a proven track record of innovation in crime prevention and reduction strategies.
Grobmeier joined the RCMP in 1993 and was first posted to British Columbia, where he served in multiple detachments, including remote northern locations. His early career included service in general duties, the federal drugs section and city drugs section. In 2006 he served overseas in Berlin as the liaison officer in charge of all international investigations involving Germany, Poland and Austria before returning to Canada in 2010. As a Watch Commander in Nova Scotia he was in charge of Professional Responsibility for the province and was instrumental in rolling out carbine rifles for RCMP members across Canada. In 2015 he was commissioned to the rank of Inspector in Red Deer and in 2019 became the Officer in Charge. During his time in Red Deer he led a shift in policing focused on crime reduction, youth intervention and community outreach. After retiring from the RCMP in 2022, he began his service to the Lethbridge Police Service on March 7, 2022.
In September 2023, Deputy Chief Grobmeier was honoured with the Blackfoot name, "Kakatösi," meaning Stars, by Elder Patrick Black Plume.
