Traffic Safety

Every month, the Government of Alberta and law enforcement agencies from around the province draw attention to selected areas of traffic safety.

Traffic Safety Spotlight

  • Intersection Safety

Lethbridge Police are shining the light on the importance of intersection safety as its Select Traffic Enforcement Program for January.

  • New playground zones to be added for automated traffic enforcement

Starting in mid-January, an additional 42 Lethbridge playground zones will be added for monitoring by photo radar to help reduce speeding and prevent collisions.

  • Police hosting Car Seat Check Stop

Lethbridge Police are inviting parents, guardians and anyone with young children, to attend a Car Seat Check Stop on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the east parking lot of Toys R Us (225 1 Avenue South).

  • Child Safety Seats

Used correctly, child safety seats are effective in reducing injury and deaths in motor vehicle collisions. Before installing a car seat, make sure you read the manufacturer’s instruction manual and the car seat section of the vehicle owner’s manual.

  • Pedestrian Safety

Ensuring our roads are safe is a shared responsibility between drivers and pedestrians. As the days get shorter and we have less daylight, it's even more important that pedestrians take steps to make sure they are seen by drivers.
